It’s Recycle Week 2014 this week (16 June to 22 June) and a number of events are taking place up and down the UK aimed at encouraging people to cut waste and recycle more.
The 11th annual recycling awareness week runs under the theme of ‘Recycle at Home and Away’, to promote recycling in public spaces. There are events and facilities available throughout the week to educate and inform the public about why and what to recycle. If you’re feeling inspired by the activities being held this week, don’t forget to recycle your electrical waste. Dig out your old and unwanted electrical items at home and take them to a local recycling site.
We produce over a million tonnes in the UK each year, making it the fastest-growing type of waste in Europe. By recycling your broken or unwanted items you can help conserve important raw materials, protect natural habitats and reduce pressure on landfill.
Clarity Environmental’s Recycle with Clarity initiative has a national network of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) disposal sites throughout the UK. Set up with the aim of increasing the recycling rates for each area and helping to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, or illegally exported.
Recycle with Clarity offers free and convenient recycling solutions for mobile phones, lawnmowers, washing machines, fridges, televisions and much more. Anything broken or unusable is sent to a recycling plant that converts the waste back to raw materials for reuse and separates hazardous substances for safe recycling. Take a look at our list of recycling sites to find one near you.
