Defra has launched a one-month consultation to get views on proposals to amend the glass recycling business target in the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 and the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013.
The consultation follows the Glass Flow report, which was published in October, and led to a recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Packaging (ACP) that targets for business glass recycling are scaled-down. Obligated businesses must currently account for the recycling of 81 per cent of the total glass packaging placed on the market until 2017. Defra has launched a one-month consultation on amending this target.
