We are delighted to be supporting The Big Wrap, a city-wide secret Santa campaign that is helping to bring presents to members of our community that may otherwise be without this Christmas.
Organised by Brighton Girl – an online community for women living in Brighton – alongside local businesses, The Big Wrap has been encouraging as many people as possible to donate presents to the service users of three Sussex based charities; RISE, Survivor’s Network and Sussex Homeless Support.
Throwing our support behind the campaign, Clarity Environmental has donated over £1,000 worth of gifts, as well as inviting our staff members to buy an extra present when out shopping. The gifts have been wrapped by our staff, who gave up their time as part of an internal wellness campaign that encourages employees to look after their mental and physical wellbeing. They will be delivered by Jimmy Dorrell, Head of Sustainable Business at Clarity, to the local charities in time for Christmas.
Clarity Environmental Head of Communications, Lucy Brooks, said:
“Being based in Brighton – sadly one of the UK homelessness hotspots – charities that support those without a home have always been close to our hearts. And having previously worked with Rise, we are delighted to help this campaign and provide presents to those who may otherwise wake up on Christmas morning without one. It has been a great way to finish this year, which has seen us donate over £50,000 to a variety of charities through our Clarity Cares programme.”
A new report by Shelter has revealed that one in every 200 people is homeless this Christmas. In Brighton, where our offices are located, 3,876 are homeless, which equates to one in 75. In addition to supporting The Big Wrap campaign, we have also donated over £1,000 to homeless charity, Crisis, this December. Instead of sending Christmas cards this year, our staff decided to give money to this national charity, and the business has donated an addition £1,000 in support.
In 2018, we made a pledge to donate at least 1 per cent of our profits each quarter to charitable causes or awareness campaigns.
All of our donations are managed by our internal charity committee, Clarity Cares, who meet four times a year to decide on the causes, charities or projects that our business will choose to support each quarter.
As part of our company ethos, we encourage our staff and customers to involve themselves in our charity donations by suggesting worthwhile charities to support, and committing to fundraise for them. You can find out more about our commitment to be a good business doing good, see the donations we have made this year and recommend a charity to our Clarity Cares donation committee in the Clarity Cares section of our website.
