We are delighted to announce that our packaging producer compliance scheme, ‘Comply with Clarity’, has passed a full assurance audit from the Environment Agency, who report that our scheme ‘Exceeds Expectation’, identifying several areas of best practice.
Producer Compliance schemes receive regular audits by the Environment Agency (EA) to ensure that the schemes and its members are adhering to current legislation.
Now in its tenth year, our ‘Comply with Clarity’ packaging compliance scheme has more than doubled in size since 2017, with 43 per cent growth in its packaging compliance member base for the 2019 compliance year and 99 per cent retention of current members. This latest audit result is testament to the efforts made by our packaging compliance team to develop the scheme alongside a growth in members.
We are delighted to have ‘exceeded expectations’ in our scheme governance, packaging data and memberships’ monitoring and support. We also received positive feedback on some of our best practice measures, including our online guidance and support for producers in making accurate data submissions, and the flexibility provided by our in-house packaging recovery note (PRN) division. The EA also commented on the team’s proactive attitude to additional support for our members, with multi-levels of membership offered to those producers who require it.
The Environment Agency audit report of our scheme stated that:
“It has been determined that the scheme has Exceeded Expectations based on our findings during the audit. From the information viewed and discussed in the rest of the audit report the scheme has shown to us that their operations should prevent non-compliance, and there was no non-compliance identified. There are also several areas of best practice, in particular the relationship which the account managers have with their membership.”
Clarity Environmental’s Managing Director, David Honcoop was delighted with the response from the Environment Agency: “The audit process provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the team’s hard work and commitment to continually grow and develop the scheme for our members. Our packaging compliance scheme has achieved impressive year on year growth, which has enabled us to introduce more support and additional services, but it also requires us to work hard to maintain a level of quality and relationships with our members. I am delighted that the Environment Agency recognised the efforts by the team to do just that.”
