Clarity Becomes Member of Marine Conservation Society

We are delighted to have joined the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) as a Gold corporate member, confirming our support for the organisation’s work to safeguard the future of our seas, shores and wildlife, and ensure that they are healthy and pollution free.

Our corporate membership of MCS forms part of our mission to help improve lives, protect nature and make the environment around us a better place to live, by making a commitment to donate at least 1 per cent of our profits to charitable causes or awareness campaigns.

A place for leisure, sport, and holidays for millions each year, our seas and coast are under immense pressure. Every day millions of microplastics enter the sea from personal care products such as scrubs and toothpastes, and an increasing amount of litter is ending up in our seas. The Marine Conservation Society says it removed an astounding 568,000 pieces of litter from our coasts in one year alone.

The Marine Conservation Society’s vision is for seas full of life where nature flourishes and people thrive. By becoming corporate members, we are showing our support for the organisation’s work and we look forward to receiving and sharing news on their activities over the next year.

David Honcoop, Managing Director of Clarity Environmental, said: “We are passionate about using our business to do good and we are delighted to have been accepted as a Gold corporate member of the MCS, following their review of our environmental policy and corporate social responsibility policies.

“There is an increasing amount of startling evidence on the amount of plastic finding its way into our rivers and seas. Having worked within the packaging industry since the start of our business, it is important to us that we support those organisations that are working hard to protect our environment from the impacts of this pollution.”

Our commitment to divert over 1 per cent of our profits to charitable organisations or awareness campaigns resulted in donations of over £40,000 in 2018. We supported a range of causes, including Canine Partners, FareShare, Combat Stress, Plastic Oceans and Whale and Dolphin Conservation. Read our Clarity Cares newsletter to see all of the donations we made in 2018.

It isn’t just our employees that can recommend a charity. By using our online form you can too. Your suggestion will go forward to our Clarity Cares donation committee meeting and we will get in touch as soon as possible.

Our Clarity Cares Facebook group provides a place where the charities we have supported can raise awareness, share news and invite and engage with the general public, businesses and other charitable causes. Join here and keep up to date with the latest news from the organisations we have supported so far.
