Waste Batteries Legislation

Lead acid battery recycling

There are several pieces of legislation that affect the storage, collection and recycling of waste batteries generated in the UK. Disposing of lead-acid batteries must be done in accordance with these regulations to ensure that there is no negative impact on the environment.

Waste batteries & accumulators legislation

The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 implement the waste battery provisions of the EU Directive on Batteries and Accumulators and Waste Batteries and Accumulators. The regulations set out requirements for waste battery collection, treatment, recycling and disposal for all battery types.
