New Recruit Assists Packaging Compliance Scheme Growth

Earlier this month, we welcomed a new team member to the Clarity family who is helping support the growth of our packaging compliance scheme.

Our Comply with Clarity packaging compliance scheme has experienced impressive growth in recent years, with a 47 per cent increase in our scheme members for the 2018 compliance year, resulting in an 89 per cent increase of obligated tonnage.

Will Jacobs has joined us as Business Development Executive working with our compliance division to help support and continue the growth of our schemes, and assisting businesses that are obligated under the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations.

Will joins us from his previous role as an Export Manager in hydraulics, where he had responsibility for exports to the Middle East and South Asia. With a Masters from the University of Sussex in Conflict, Security and Development, Will has spent some time abroad volunteering in Bangladesh with VSO, working on issues such as employability and health, as well as spending a couple of months teaching English in Prague.

Our new recruit said he was attracted to the role at Clarity as he was keen to join a modern and growing company with a conscience. “Having spent a lot of time volunteering, I really appreciate the work that Clarity does in the community. My studies have also made me all too aware of the importance of environmental issues, so it is rewarding to work with a company that has sustainability squarely in its focus.”

He added: “I have really enjoyed my time at Clarity so far; there is a great deal of opportunity to grow my skills and industry knowledge and the team have been very supportive, ensuring I settle in quickly.”

As well as taking on a new job role, Will has also thrown himself into the twice-weekly HIIT and yoga sessions offered to our staff. Outside of the office, Will has challenged himself to learn Spanish and is teaching himself the Bass Guitar.

We are delighted to welcome Will to Clarity and we are certain he will be an asset to our team.

Will joins our compliance team at an exciting time. With increased awareness of the impact that unnecessary packaging is having on our environment, this year we pledged to help our packaging compliance members investigate and determine how they can become more sustainable. Our Beyond Compliance service offers tailored workshops for existing and new members, providing the opportunity for businesses to understand the impact of their packaging, the customer perception of their brand, and re-design concepts to green their packaging. We are delighted to work alongside our members to be part of the solution.

Companies that handle packaging in the UK are subject to the Packaging Regulations. We work with these businesses, helping them to reduce their impact on the environment and ensuring they comply with current regulations. Contact our team on 0845 129 7177 to find out how we can help your business.
