In January 2024, the UK Government announced its intention to prohibit the supply and sale of disposable vapes in England. This decision followed an 8-week consultation on ‘Creating a smokefree generation and tackling youth vaping’’. Feedback from various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, healthcare professionals, and the general public, indicated strong support for the measure, with nearly 70% of responses favouring the ban.
The proposed ban on disposable vapes demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing public health concerns associated with vaping, particularly among youth, while also addressing environmental sustainability issues related to the disposal of electronic cigarette waste.
On Monday 11th March 2024, the UK Government released draft legislation pertaining to the ban on disposable vape products. Interested parties are invited to provide feedback on the proposed legislation by Monday 25th March.
