Lunch & Learn

In July we asked our staff to undertake some charity-based learning and objectives. Our company commitment to donate at least 1% of our profits each quarter is an integral part of our company ethos, and one that we look to share with the Clarity team. As well as being able to nominate charities to work with, we also offer the opportunity to take time off to volunteer.

Since the start of this year, we have donated £15,000 and have had the pleasure of seeing various charities and causes undertake some fantastic action in the community, locally in Brighton, and across the UK.

Throughout July we have provided ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions for all our team, providing them with the opportunity to see how Clarity Cares has impacted the organisations we have supported. We were fortunate to have Just One Ocean, Rise, Over the Wall and Canine Partners all come in to give a presentation about the work they have been doing and how Clarity Cares has made an impact.

As a business passionate about the environment we donated £5000 to The Big Microplastic Survey and Just One Ocean. We heard about the ongoing project investigating the problem of microplastics and mesoplastic in rivers, lakes and coastal regions. Read more about that here.

We have long supported Rise, a Brighton based charity that helps people affected by domestic abuse. Three of our team have run the 10km Heroes Run fundraiser over the past four years and this year sponsored a mile marker for the race. We got to learn about the money raised this year supporting a specific child therapist to be accessible for their centre.

Canine Partners are another charity we have been supporting for quite some time, after donating to support the entire working life of a support dog, named Claro. Now 12 months on, Claro came in to visit the team before moving onto the training centre and hopefully being partnered with someone whose life he can make a real difference to.

Over the Wall is a charity that provides seriously ill children, young people and families with free activity camps, which we have supported this quarter. With some amazing targets they want to achieve next year, getting 1,000 children to their camps, our donation is paying for two families to attend.

Its been a great opportunity for our staff to connect with the charities we support and a fantastic way of spreading awareness for the charities themselves.

Charlotte, our marketing executive, found the sessions really rewarding: “We are all aware of the charities and campaigns we support through Clarity Cares but to get more detail about the work the charities do, the efforts put in by volunteers and the research projects undertaken was fantastic. I’ve volunteered for a residential children’s charity in the past and absolutely loved it but since moving to Brighton haven’t had any connections to charities I could support. After hearing from Over the Wall their work really resonated with me and I’ve since put myself forward to be a volunteer next year.”

We have also had several of our team commit to a fundraising challenge in the coming months. Running, walking and cycling are all activities that five of our staff will be undertaking to raise money for charity throughout the rest of this year.
